FLAMINGO TOUR & RIA CELESTUN

A Gift from the Mayan Gods.  A must for all visitors to Celestun is an excursion into the estuary of the Ria Celestun Biosphere Reserve to view the flamingos and other amazing birds.  Over 500 recorded species of birds and mammals make this their home.  Not one or two, but literally hundreds of the graceful and colorful flamingos will excite and entertain you.  Along the shoreline interesting birds such as brown and white pelicans, double-crested cormorants, egrets, herons and many more are easily viewed. You will see fisherman trolling for shrimp later to be served fresh in the local restaurants.  Tours can be arranged from the bridge, the town beach or you can be picked up directly from Casa de Celeste Vida.  This tour not only allows for close ups of the flamingos and other birds, but also a tour through the tunnels of the dense mangrove jungle as it takes you deep into the silence and tranquility of nature with a stop at a fresh water spring where guests can enjoy a refreshing swim.  Another stop allows guest to witness the petrified forest Tameten.  As guests are guided through the Ria they may be lucky to see crocodiles.

FLAMINGO TOUR OPTIONS & PRICES:
(Pricing is given in pesos as it is the preferred currency by the tour providers) 

1. ✤    From the Bridge that you cross to arrive to Celestun.  This  tour lets guest see the flamingos, bird island, coast through a mangrove forest & swim in the fresh water spring.  You might be lucky enough to spot a crocodile or two basking in the sun on the sandy banks.    This is a shorter tour but still hits the major highlights.
   

2.     $350. MXN per person  (Approximate price as it is dependent on the number of persons sharing the boat)
   

1. ✤    From the palapa on the beach in town in front of the many restaurants.  This tour is an extended tour where guests see the village of Celestun by water and travel down the open coast line until they enter into the mouth of the estuary from the ocean.  You will stop and visit the petrified forest, see the flamingos, bird island, explore a mangrove channel and swim in the fresh water spring.  With luck a crocodile might be visible.
   

2.     $400. MXN per person  (Approximate price as it is dependent on number of persons sharing the boat)
   

1. ✤    From Celeste Vida via mototaxi and small boat through the salt flats to the Ria where you see flamingos up close as the guide push poles you in.  This eco friendly tours gives guests the opportunity to see many land birds. During stormy weather flamingos many not be seen as they may move to more protected areas.
   

2.     $500. MXN per person
   

1. ✤    Private tour picked up on the beach from Celeste Vida.  This personalized tour is the same as the tour from the beach.  The tour is approximately 3 hours long. Price is per boat.
