DZIBILCHALTUN
Dzibilchaltun is a Mayan ruin conveniently located close to Merida. the meaning of the name is “place where there is writing on the wall”. You will walk through the winding path past ancient Mayan stone sculptures along the jungle path until you arrive at the Temple of the Seven Dolls. this temple is famous for its exactlocation so that every year during equinox on the 21st of March and the 22nd of September the sun shines directly through the doorway as it rises over the Mayan jungle. This relatively small ruin is a great place to wander and enjoy and imagine what life may have been like hundreds of years ago. There is also a cenote on the site if Dzibilchatun which is suitable for swimming and offers a pleasant reprieve after a hot day of exploring the ruins.
